Mobile Phone Pouches
As of June 2026 a phased roll-out of mobile phone pouches will begin for all students in Year 7 to 11.
Following this roll-out all mobile phones must remain securely locked within a school-issued pouch throughout the school day. Pouches may only be unlocked at the end of the day or when a student leaves the school site.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their phone remains safely stored inside their locked pouch at all times during the school day. Please take a moment to read the Mobile Phone Pouch Policy here.
The pouch is school property and must be treated with care and respect. Each student will have their first pouch purchased by the school but in the event that a pouch is broken or lost, a new pouch must be purchased by parents/carers for the cost of £8.50. Parents can buy them from this website - https://store.schoolphonepouch.co.uk/tkat
To support a smooth and successful rollout, and to deter misuse or vandalism, we have established a set of clear sanctions for any breaches of the rules surrounding the pouch system.
The key messages from the policy are:
- Possession of an un-pouched mobile phone or unlocked pouch, placing incorrect items in the pouch (e.g. calculator or dummy phone) or possession of an unlocking device – phone confiscated and only returned to a parent/carer following a meeting; 1 day of internal isolation.
- Purposefully damaging, destroying or tampering with a pouch – internal isolation agreed for a number of days by the Head of School/Executive Headteacher, phone confiscated for one week, and parent/carer to pay for a replacement pouch.
- Refusal to hand over an un-pouched phone - 1 day suspension
Repeat offences will result in increasing sanctions in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
We are confident that with the cooperation of our community, the introduction of phone pouches will have a positive impact across our school - helping to create an environment where students can concentrate fully on their learning and wellbeing.
Thank you for your continued support.
