Boccia Team win award for Team Endeavour!
Since starting playing a year and a half a go the team have represented Bexley in the London Youth Games, played in various tournaments including county and regional competitions. They practise every Monday night after school and even some lunchtimes in the week as well.
The team have had specialist coaching from Gerry Wooder, a Boccia England coach. Mr. Thompson, Mrs. Amphlett and Mrs. Wood, provide the supervision and guidance during the other sessions and the boys have come on in leaps and bounds.
Their most recent tournament was the South East regional finals held at Valance school, Westerham. The team qualified for this after winning the county competition in October. The boys played well and kept their cool through some tough games. After a long day of matches and practising the boys had learnt a massive amount from the higher level of competition and were rewarded with the bronze medal.
The boys are now looking to join a club based at Valance School and progress their skills even further, in order to return next year and show the others they mean business.
In reward for all their efforts the squad of 6 have also been awarded a Bexley Youth Sports Award for Team Endeavour. They will collect their award at the borough presentation evening which is being held on the Saturday 2nd February.
The school are very proud of the boys achievements and have high hopes for the team in the coming years and beyond.
