About Cleeve Park School

About our Trust and your role

TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust) is one of the largest Multi-Academy Trusts in the South of England with over 40 Primary and Secondary Academies in the TKAT Family.

As a Lead Practitioner, you will promote a relentless focus on the quality of Teaching and Learning in Maths (and the wider school when appropriate) across four secondary schools in the TKAT City region.  These schools are Cleeve Park School, Kemnal Technology College, Orchards Academy and Welling School.  

You will also lead the development and implementation of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of its young people and produces positive outcomes.

It is important to TKAT that we develop our staff and you will have the opportunity to work with our well establish and successful Teaching School Alliance to support you in the professional development of staff.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to hear from experienced or rising Leaders with experience of inspiring teams to deliver outstanding learning for young people within Maths.

We are looking for someone who knows how to bring a creative and innovative approach to improving performance and support for our teachers and students. An excellent communicator, you will act as an ambassador for TKAT and will have demonstrable experience of working in partnership with colleagues within a faculty and/or beyond.

JOB PURPOSE

To model and lead the improvement of Maths teaching across four secondary schools in TKAT City

Key Area

Responsibility

Responsibilities

Carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with School policies and procedures and statutory requirements.

  • Contribute to a clear strategic vision for the continued development of high quality teaching in Maths within the four schools.
  • Ensure the curriculum offer is appropriate for all students across all key stages ensuring that, whilst a shared approach is created, implemented and monitored, contextual understanding is also accommodated.
  • Take a leading role in improving standards of teaching and learning, ensuring these are consistently high, with the support of the teaching school alliance and deputy regional director
  • Being part of the teaching and learning group and use coaching and mentoring to support good quality teaching and learning
  • Actively support the improvement in outcomes through the delivery of high quality lessons and masterclasses across the four schools.
  • Ensure robust assessments are in place across all key stages in all four schools.

Areas of Accountability

To raise standards in Maths to positively impact on outcomes.

Professional development

  • Review the methods of teaching and learning within Maths, ensuring appropriate CPD is undertaken and delivered where necessary.
  • Participate in arrangements for further training and professional development including those aimed at meeting the need identified in performance objectives or in performance statements for the Maths teaching across the four schools.

Discipline, health and safety

  • Maintain good order and discipline and safeguard the health and safety among students both within the classroom, school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere.
  • To work in accordance with the guidelines set out in the school Health and Safety policy

Examinations

  • Participate in arrangements for preparing students for external/internal examinations, in assessing students for the purpose of such examinations

General Responsibilities

  • Promote each school’s values and ethos in accordance with the School’s Professional Code.
  • Work actively to develop professional expertise by participating in ongoing professional development.
